Dr. Beth Partin, receives an Alumna of the Year Award from UofL This is Nurse Practitioner Dr. Elizabeth Partin's 3rd Award of the Year. She is currently an owner and provider at Family First Health Care in Columbia, KY. She has been providing care for patients in Adair County since 1991. Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Michael Partin On October 17, 2013 Nurse Practitioner Dr. Elizabeth Partin DNP, APRN of Columbia, KY was awarded an Alumna of the Year Award from the University of Louisville. The U of L Alumni Association established the Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award in 1983 to recognize graduates who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields and are exemplary ambassadors for the university and their college or school. Recipients reflect the high standing and character of their alma mater. This year, twelve recipients were selected for this award out of 130,000 prior U of L graduates. This is her third award this year. She is also the recipient of the 2013 American Association of Nurse Practitioners - Nurse Practitioner Advocate of the Year Award, and The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Honors Proclamations for her service to her profession and to the citizens of the commonwealth. In previous years she has been awarded the 2010 Kentucky Nurses Association Distinguished Nurse of the Year, the 2006 Kentucky Nursing Excellence Award, the 2006 Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Honors Proclamation, and the 1994 Nurse Practitioner of the Year for the State of Kentucky. She is a past president of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives (KCNPNM), and has served as the legislative liaison between the KCNPNM and the members of the Kentucky Legislature. She was a Board member of the Kentucky Board of Nursing from 1998 to 2011, served on the Kentucky Medical Association Patient Safety Task Force from 2001 to 2006 and was an expert panel member of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing in 2005. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (the National and International Nursing Honor society), the Golden Key National Honor Society, the University of Louisville School of Nursing Honor Society, and a commissioned colonel of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Currently, she is serving as chairperson on the Kentucky Advisory Council for Medical Assistance. She is also Vice President, Legislative Liaison chairperson, on the Governmental Affairs Committee, member of the Reimbursement Committee of the KCNPNM, and serves on the Advanced Practice Council of the Kentucky Nurses Association. She is a clinical preceptor for nurse practitioner students for WKU and the Frontier School of Nursing and Midwifery. Elizabeth Partin received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville's School of Nursing, her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University. She is currently an owner and provider at Family First Health Care in Columbia, KY.
