Joyce M. Coomer: Speeders cannot be predicted by age By Joyce M. Coomer Personal Commentary Most of the people who have been across the center line into my lane of traffic weren't elderly - I'd put the oldest person at 55 or so - most appeared to be in the 20 to 40 age range. People are becoming more and more inattentive to what they are doing at the moment -- I don't know if it's stress or the economy or just plain laziness, but whatever it is needs to be modified somehow. Some states require drivers over 65 to have annual eye exams before renewing driver's licenses, and some states the licenses for people over 65 are only good for one or two years instead of the three or four years Kentucky currently has. Also for elderly drivers (actually for ANY driver) -- if they have prescription glasses, they should be required to wear those glasses at all times . . . I know, some people claim they're just for reading fie print, but if you watch them closely, you can tell they need to wear their glasses all the time. Vanity could be listed as a cause of death as well as a deadly sin. - Joyce M. Coomer This story was posted on 2013-11-01 11:11:36
