He was a native of Taylor County, formerly lived in Adair County, and was a resident of Casey County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late William Deward & Ora Esther Perkins Rucker. His wife, Anita Ellison of Liberty, KY survives. He leaves 30 direct and 12 step living descendants. He was a member of Kellyville Community Church, retired from Taylor County Rural Electric Cooperative & had served his country in the U.S. Army

William Gerald Rucker age 78 years formerly of Adair County passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 2:15pmCT, at his home in Casey County after an illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2pmCT/3pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Bro. Stanley Watson will be the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Tabernacle Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Friday, October 25, 2013.



Pallbearers: Roger Rucker, Brad Rucker, Richard Murrell, Randal Murrell, Earl Lane Judd, Don Landis, Andy Rucker and Jeremiah King.

Honorary Pallbearers will be employees at Taylor County Rural Electric Cooperative.

William Gerald Rucker, 78, Adair Co., KY (1934-2013)

He was born on November 29, 1934 in Campbellsville, Taylor Countym KY. He was the son of late William Deward & Ora Esther Perkins Rucker. He died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in Casey County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 24 days.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Renee Rucker; a grandson, Roger Allen Rucker, Jr.; and one brother, Gary Rucker. He is survived by his wife: Anita Ellison Rucker of Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Roger (Lisa) Rucker of Georgetown, KY; and Brad (Jamie) Rucker of Columbia, KY

  • Three daughters: Lisa (Wade) White of Versailles, KY; Tammy (Donnie "Smokey") Landis of Greensburg, KY; and Terri (Earl Lane) Judd of Glasgow, KY

  • Three step-children: Jacqueline (Kenneth) McCormick of Tompkinsville, KY; Jennifer (Stanley) Durham of Liberty, KY; Michael Byrd of Indianapolis, IN

  • One sister: Rita (Billy) Murrell of Columbia, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Nine step-grandchildren

  • Fourteen great grandchildren

  • Three step-great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends survive.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Hospice of Lake Cumberland and may be left at the funeral home.
