Mr. Gary Lee Smothers departed this life on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Campbellsville at the Taylor Regional Hospital. He was 57.

The family has chosen cremation and memorial services will be private.



Gary Smothers, Lebanon, KY (1955-2013)


Mr. Gary Lee Smothers was the son of Anna Mae Mattingly Smothers of Lebanon, KY, and the late James Smothers. He was born Tuesday, November 2, 1955 in Marion County and departed this life on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 57 years, 10 months and 25 days.

He was a former carpenter.

Besides his mother he is survived by the following:
  • A son: Lee and Chrissy Smothers of Louisville, KY

  • Two daughters: Melissa, wife of Skot Huff of Texas, and Misty Smothers of Bloomfield, KY

  • Two brothers: James Terry husband of Connie Smothers of Cox's Creek, KY; and John, husband of Shirley Smothers of Lebanon, KY

  • Three sisters: Shirley Baird of Mt. Washington, KY; Shelia wife of Tim Gill of Lexington, KY and Amy Burnside of Bardstown, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mr. Smothers was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Anne Hagy on April 5, 2013.
