Marianna Mayorga Stargel, 59, Russell Springs, KY (1954-2013)


A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 19, at 2pmCT/3pmET, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1650 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY with Brother Joseph Schembari officiating. An additional memorial service for Spanish-speaking friends will be held the same day at 2:30pmCT/3:30pmET at Taylor County Elementary School, 1100 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY with Brother Robert Christensen officiating.

Marianna Mayorga Stargel, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. She was 59.



She was born to June Felicia Mayorga and Omar Segundo on October 13, 1954 in Panama City, Panama. She was united in marriage to Earl Wayne Stargel on August 17, 1973 in Panama. They moved to the United States in 1975, and later settled in Russell Springs, Kentucky where they raised their two children.

Well-known in the Hispanic community, Marianna served more than 20 years as a Spanish interpreter for state and local agencies, court systems, hospitals and health departments.

Marianna was a dedicated Christian Witness of Jehovah and devoted her life to teaching others about Jehovah God and his kingdom. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her father, Omar Segundo.

Marianna is survived by her husband of 40 years, Earl Wayne Stargel of Russell Springs, KY.

She is also survived by her mother, June Felicia Mayorga, and step father, Nicolas King, both of Panama.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Jeanie (Wayne) Weeks of Campbellsville, KY; and a son, Nathan (Amanda) Stargel of Russell Springs, KY.

Also surviving are three siblings: Mavis "Candy" Avila of Miami, FL; Claudia King of Mexico; and Richard Stanley of Panama.

Marianna leaves behind six adored grandchildren: Alyssa Patterson, Owen, Brody and Wayne Karl Weeks all of Campbellsville; and Bryson and Alayna Stargel of Russell Springs, with their soon-to-be expected brother.

Services were provided by Wilson Funeral Home, Russell Springs, KY. The family has chosen cremation. - April Shepperd
