A little lesson learned from the Garnett House Its trusses were of wood which resisted termites Click on headline for item with photo(s) An observer told us that those trusses showing in the photo of the Garnett House were built from old-growth hardwood trees that were much more disease and insect resistant than any wood found today. The writer said that when a house in her family was inspected for termites, the exterminator said 'This wood's too hard...termites can't bore through it!" And the Garnett house was built about 45 years before that one! This story was posted on 2013-10-07 06:23:51
