Soccer/Men: LWC No. 1 in Latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team received 15 first-place votes and 586 points to claim the No. 1 spot in the latest NAIA Men's Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday, October 1, 2013.



The Blue Raiders claim the No. 1 spot for the first time this season after going 2-0 last week defeating Shawnee State (Ohio) 2-1 and Marygrove (MI) 5-1. This is the 75th consecutive poll that Lindsey Wilson has made an appearance.

Mid-South Conference rival Rio Grande (Ohio) moved up one spot from No. 3 to No. 2 after receiving one first-place vote and 567 points.

Belhaven (Jackson, MS) received four first-place and 559 points to take No. 3 in the latest poll. Oklahoma Wesleyan jumped two spots to No. 4 after receiving 519 points. Rounding out the top-5 is Ashford (Iowa) with 517 points.

William Carey (MS) made the biggest move this week, going from receiving votes to No. 15 in the latest poll with 299 points. Hastings (NE), the previous No. 1 team, fell to No. 6 after losing last week. They did receive one first-place vote and 487 points in this week's poll. - Jay Nicols, Lindsey Wilson College
