Taylor Co. Sheriff Steve Allen Newton makes statement On Tuesday, October 01, 2013, at approximately 1000 hours I received a phone call from the Kentucky State Police informing me that Deputy William Rice was being arrested for trafficiin in Steroids and would be transported to Bowling Green, KY. After being informed of the arrest, Rice's employment was immediately terminated with the Sheriff's Department. It was a shock to all personnel here at the Sheriff's Department. It is not only our responsibility to police the community we serve, but just as important to police ourselves. This office will not tolerate this type of behavior out of any of our personnel. As Head of this department, I will not make any excuses or attempt to sugarcoat the seriousness of this situation. It will be handled in a professional manner and I will continue to assist in the investigation. Rice is now part of the Criminal Justice System and if found guilty will have to deal with the repercussions of his own actions. I have a lot of hard working officers in this department and the actions of 1 officer should not reflect upon the department as a whole. - Steve Allen Newton Taylor County Sheriff From Taylor County Sheriff's Office, Steve Allen Newton, Sheriff. 203 N Court Street, Suite 6, Campbellsville, KY 42728. Telephone 270-465-4351. Office Clerk, Becky Benningfield. This story was posted on 2013-10-01 17:33:48
