Ident-a-Kid security requires sign-in for all adults - even Supt. Identification badges required for all adults entering building. While processing card, the system checks with the national sex offender database when adults check in any Adair County School District classroom building By Shamarie Claiborne Adair County School District Media Publicity Coordinator If you have been to any of the Adair County School's this year you have noticed a few changes in the way things look and some of our operating procedures. The biggest change for parents has been using the new Ident-a-Kid security system that is located in every building on campus including our central office. Everyone should be aware that all staff from our Superintendant all the way down must sign-in/out each time they enter and exit a building on campus just like you. Students that are tardy or leave school early must sign-in/out as well as parents who are visiting the school or picking up students during the day everyone must interact with the new Ident-a-Kid software. It has been a change for everyone but our students are safer than ever and identifying who is in the building at any given time only takes a few key strokes. The software provides identification badges for visitors with a picture of the individual on it. One of the hidden features of the new system is it automatically checks with the national sex offender database when adults check-in to the system ensuring they do not have access to our student body. It creates students check-in tickets for students who are tardy or checking in late for any reason. But more importantly, if there is an emergency of any kind it identifies who exactly is in the building. The only real change other than our students being safer is you need to remember to take your driver's license or a picture id with you when you enter one of our buildings. I know when I look at it with my "Mom" hat on; the extra effort is not much to ask in exchange for the extra security it provides my child. - Shamarie Claiborne This story was posted on 2013-09-23 14:58:21
