Letter: When 35mph signs were posted Paul Patton writes: Larry Smith's photo of the Amish horse and buggy and the 35 MPH speed zone sign reminded me of a story from long ago when speed limit signs were first erected along our roadways. An elderly couple who had not invested in an automobile but were still traveling in a horse drawn buggy were going to town one day and came upon one of these 35 MPH signs. The old man read the sign, shook his head, handed the lines to his wife and said, "Ma, you hold the lines and I'll use the whip but I don't believe Old Nell can ever go that fast." - Paul PattonComments re photo 51371 Scenic Taylor Co KY Minding the speed limit This story was posted on 2013-09-18 06:42:01
