Cordell Garner, 93, of Jamestown, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center, in Somerset, KY.

Funeral service for Cordell Garner will be 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday September 18, 2013 at the Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 999 Hwy 1058, Jamestown, KY, with Bro. David Brown, Bro. Roger Garner, Bro. Jesse Jewell, and Bro. Steven Willis officiating. Friends may call after 4pmCT/5pmET, Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 9amCT/10amET, Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Chris Brown, James Fugate, Austin Roush, Jackie Mann, Glen Garner, Brad Redmon, Gary Foster, and Jimmy Mann.

He was born Sunday, February 29, 1920 in Russell County, KY. He was the soon of the late Arthur & Pearl Garner. He died Sunday, September 15, 2013, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 15 days.

He was a farmer, a Veteran of th US Army serving in WWII and was a member of theUnion Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ovalene Antle Garner, Jamestown, KY, and the following:
  • Three children: Carol Antle, Louisville, KY; Brenda (David) Brown, Caneyville, KY, and Mickey Garner, Jamestown, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Angela Fugate, Melissa Roush, Dana Cruze, Chris Brown, Latisha Cordrey

  • Ten great grandchildren

  • One sister: Christine Welch, Louisville, KY
