LWC Golf: Men take 6th place finish, Bill Sergent Invitational

LONDON, KY - Lindsey Wilson men's golfer Franck Medale shot 2-under par 142 to win the Bill Sergent Invitational Individual medal by one stroke and give Lindsey Wilson a sixth place finish, 25 strokes behind host and team champion University of the Cumberlands (KY).

Medale started the day tied for sixth but moved up the leaderboard with three birdies on the front nine. His day started off with a bogey on the par-3 3rd hole but recovered with a birdie on the par-4 4th. He followed that up with a two pars and another birdie on the par-4 7th hole to get back to 1-under par. He finished the front nine with a birdie on the 573 yard par-5 9th hole.



On the back nine Medale added two more birdies and three bogeys to card a 1-over par 37 and finish the day atop the leaderboard with a 1-under par 71. Medale was in the 9:40 a.m. group and had to wait while five groups behind him still had golfers on the leaderboard who could tie him or take the lead.

Lindsey Wilson junior Nate Hincks started the day tied for sixth position but even with trouble on 12th and 15th hole he finished in the top-20 at 19th position. He started the day off 2-under par through the first three holes with birdies on the par-3 2nd hole and the par-5 3rd hole, but posted two big numbers on the back nine. He ended the round with a birdie on the 18th hole to finish at 6-over par 78.

Blue Raider sophomore Chris Butler recorded a 9-over par 153 for the Invitational after shooting a 4-over par 76 in the second round. He finished tied for 26th position.

Sophomore Tyler Putty ended the second round in 40th position with a 5-over par 77. Putty ended his day on a high note with an eagle on the 574 yard par-5 18th hole. He finished the Invitational at 16-over par 160.

Freshman Clayton Bradshaw finished the Invitational at 19-over par 163 good for 42nd position after the starting the day in 47th. He shot a 7-over par 79 in the second round, including a birdie on the 368 yard par-4 17th hole.

Lindsey Wilson will travel to Campbellsville, KY, on September 23-24 for the Don Bishop Invitational at Campbellsville Country Club.
