Joseph Wayne Grider, Adair County, KY (1944-2013)

He was a native of Adair County, KY and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was, the son of Alta Stargel Grider, who survives, and the late Joe Grider. His wife, Olene Shepherd Grider, survives. He leaves 19 direct living descendants spanning 3 generations. He was a farmer and a member of the Free Union Separate Baptist Church

Joseph Wayne Grider, 69, of Millerfield Road (Adair County), Russell Springs, KY, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services for Joseph Wayne Grider will be 1pmCT/2pmET. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Richard Lehman officiating. Friends may call after 5pmCT, Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tarter Cemetery.



Pallbearers: Clint Smith, Jeremy Jones, Johnny Jones, Dustin Bunch, Leslie Burton, and Joe Kerns.

He was born May 7, 1944 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of Alta Stargel Grider and the late Joe Grider. He died Sunday, August 18, 2013, in Adair County, KY, a the age of 69 years, 3 months, and 11 days.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Grider, and two brothers; Howard & Charlie Grider Survivors include his wife, Olene Shepherd Grider and the following:
  • Seven children: Lisa Burton, Columbia, KY; JoAnn (Gary) Smith, Columbia, KY; Priscilla (Scott) Jones, Russell Springs, KY; Doris Brockman, Taylor County, KY; Billy Joe Grider, Columbia, KY; Teresa Grider, Taylor County, KY; Samantha Grider, Taylor County, KY
  • Ten grandchildren

  • Two great grandchildren

  • Mother: Alta Grider, Columbia, KY

  • Sister: Kay McGowan, Columbia, KY

  • Brother: Ralph (Glenda) Grider, Columbia, KY

  • Several neices and nephews
The family requests memorials to the Joseph Wayne Grider Memorial Fund. These can be made at the funeral home.
