Driver faces two charges of murder in Lincoln Pkwy collision

Elizabethtown, KY, driver and passenger declared dead at the scene of two vehicle, two fatality and injury crash. Collision occurs at intersection of Roundtop Road/KY 1135 and Lincoln Parkway/KY 61 in between Elizabethtown and Hodgenville, KY in Hardin County, KY. (Google Map), about 53 miles north of Columbia, kY. Preliminary investigations show alcohol may have been a factor in crash

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - On Sunday, August 18, 2013 at approximately 6:28pmET, Kentucky State Police Post 04 received a call in regard to an injury crash at the intersection of KY 1135 and KY 61. Earl D. Richardson (46), of Hodgenville. KY was operating a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer southbound on KY 61.



Johnie M. Dennis (75), of Elizabethtown was operating a 2004 Nissan Sentra and was traveling west on KY 1135 and was attempting to cross KY 61. The Nissan operated by Mr. Dennis entered the path of the Chevrolet operated by Mr. Richardson. The Chevrolet Blazer struck the Nissan on the passenger side causing both vehicles to exit the southwest corner of the roadway.

Johnie Dennis and a passenger in his vehicle, Luevenia Dennis (71), also of Elizabethtown were pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin Co. Coroner's Office.

Earl Richardson and his passenger, Earl Richardson Jr. (10), were both transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment and later released. Preliminary investigations show that alcohol was a factor at the time of the crash. Earl Richardson was arrested and charged with the following; Operating A Motor Vehicle Under The Influence of Alcohol with Aggravating Circumstances, No Operators License, Failure to Maintain Insurance, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle Prohibited, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and two counts of Murder.

He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center All individuals involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Brad Riley is handling the investigation and was assisted at the scene by KSP personnel, Hardin Co. EMS and the Central Hardin Fire Department. - Tpr Jeffrey Gregory
