EWG Website, which advocates changes in the Federal farm subsidy program, shows Adair County top recipient in 7-county area.

The 7-County area including Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties fares were in terms of farm subsidy receipts.

The database tracks $256 billion in farm subsidies from commodity, crop insurance, and disaster programs and $39 billion in conservation payments paid between 1995 and 2012." After accessing the database, one can enter the zip code to then access lists, ranked from highest recipient, for any zip code in the U.S. For instance, Adair County can be accessed at Columbia, KY/ Subsidy Recipients 211 to 30 of 2,232 in zipcode 42728/Recipients in this zipcode received $28,479,939 from 1995-2012. But this is not inclusive of all Adair County Payments.
