NKY Coach accused of drugging, sexually abusing 13-year-old Attorney General Jack Conway Announces Indictment of Boone County Youth Coach for Allegedly Sexually Abusing Six Children Click on headline for complete story By Shelley Catharine Johnson FRANKFORT, KY (August 7, 2013) - Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment of a Boone County, Ky. man and long-time youth coach on charges that he allegedly sexually abused six boys from May 2011 through June 2013. General Conway's Office of Special Prosecutions is handling the case at the request of local Commonwealth's Attorney Linda Talley Smith. Prosecutors presented the case to the Boone County Grand Jury today. The grand jury returned 14 indictments in connection with the case. Forty-six-year-old Michael Schweitzer of Hebron was originally charged with drugging and sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy. An additional five boys have since contacted the Boone County Sheriff's Department with similar allegations of abuse. Schweitzer is charged with three counts of sodomy in the first degree (Class B felonies), three counts of unlawful transaction with a minor in the first degree (Class B felonies), and eight counts of sexual abuse in the first degree (Class D felonies). Schweitzer was a volunteer coach for various Boone County area youth baseball, basketball, football and wrestling teams. "I want to assure the parents of the children who've come forward -- this case is a top priority for me and my office," said General Conway. "I hope that all parents whose children may have had contact with Schweitzer have a family conversation tonight and contact the Boone County Sheriff's Office if there are allegations of abuse." The Boone County Sheriff's Department's phone number is 859-334-2175. Schweitzer, who is currently lodged in the Boone County Jail, will be arraigned on August 21 at 9 a.m. in Boone Circuit Court. His bond is set at $500,000 full cash. If found guilty, Schweitzer could face up to 70 years in prison. An indictment is an allegation only.
