He was member of a highly regarded Adair County family. He was the son of the late Elbert & Myrtle Gadberry Sharpe. His wife, Sandra Riggins Sharpe, survives. He leaves 5 direct living descendants. He was a member of Columbia Christian Church, a retired farmer and loved to bird hunt and shoot pool.

Earl Sharpe, 85, of Columbia, KY, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 12:10amCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11amCT/12pmET, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Raymond Martin and Bro. Gary Daugherty officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1267 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 5pmCT/6pmET Monday, July 15, 2013 at the funeral home.

He was born Sunday, August 7, 1927, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Elbert & Myrtle Gadberry Sharpe. He died Saturday, July 13, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 6 days.

He was a member of Columbia Christian Church, a retired farmer and loved to bird hunt and shoot pool.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeaneatte Eubank Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Sandra Riggins Sharpe of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter and son-in-law: Kathy & Bobby Downey of Columbia, KY

  • One son and daughter-in-law: Bill & Robin Sharpe of Louisville, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Colton Downey of Columbia, KY; Marlena Keith of Louisville, KY

  • Kimberly Nilest of Simpsonville, KY
  • Several other relatives and friends
