Monroe man died as result of multiple chop, incised wounds

Preliminary autopsy results indicate death due to wounds sustained in an assault. KSP is awating results of final autopsy report, including toxicology report, which may take several weeks. The case remains under investigation

TOMPKINSVILLE - The preliminary autopsy results indicate that 53-year-old Roger G. Mansfield died as a result of multiple chop and incised wounds to the head sustained during an assault. The final autopsy report, including toxicology results, will not be available for several weeks. The accused, Kassey Russell, was initially arrested last night on a Monroe County Indictment warrant that charged him with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree. Russell is lodged in the Monroe County Jail. The case remains under investigation. - TFC BILLY GREGORY
