Historical Markers to be dedicated to Nettie Depp, Willa Chappel

In Glasgow, KY July 20, 2013

The Glasgow Business and Professional Women's Club and the Kentucky Historical Society invites the public to join in dedicating two historical markers to local women who made great achievements during their lives. Nettie B.C. Depp and Willa Brown Chappell are the subjects of the bronze markers being placed on the lawn of the Barren County Courthouse, 100 Court House Square Glasgow, Kentucky, Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 10amCT Eleanor Jordan, Executive Director of the Kentucky Commission on Women, will be the keynote speaker for the event. Depp was the first Barren County woman to be elected to public office seven years before women were granted the right to vote. Chappell was a noted aviatrix during the World War II era in which she helped train pilots who became part of the famed Tuskeegee Airmen.
