Jamaine Gordon new LW Cross Country and Track & Field Coach A former Lindsey Wilson student-athlete returns as head coach Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Chris Wells, Sports Information Director Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, KY COLUMBIA, KY- Jamaine Gordon has been named the head men's and women's cross country and track & field coach at Lindsey Wilson College, athletic director Willis Pooler announced on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Gordon -- a former Lindsey Wilson student-athlete -- takes over the Blue Raider programs after spending the last two seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Western Kentucky University track & field programs. "Jamaine's passion for Lindsey Wilson College and for his sport made him an excellent choice during our national search," Pooler said. "I'm confident in Jamaine's ability to run a comprehension cross country and track & field program. "It is always special when one of your own develops into the type of coach Jamaine has become and I know our cross country and track & field student-athletes will benefit greatly from his leadership." Gordon returns to his alma mater where he won an individual national championship. "I'm excited and grateful for this opportunity," Gordon said. "I would like to thank Willis Pooler and the hiring committee for showing faith in me and granting me the chance to lead these programs that are so near to my heart." While at Western Kentucky, Gordon helped lead the Hilltopper men to back-to-back Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships (2012 and 2013). WKU also captured the 2012 Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships during Gordon's time on the coaching staff. Prior to his stint at Western Kentucky, Gordon was head coach of the Union College cross country and track & field programs. He led the Union men and women to the 2010 Appalachian Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. That season, the Union men finished 13th at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. In all, Gordon has coached nine All-Americans and five national champions. Gordon has been certified Level 1 Coach by USA Track and Field and the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. As a student-athlete, Gordon won triple jump national title at the 2005 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. He concluded his Lindsey Wilson career as a five-time NAIA All-American in the triple jump and a three-time All-American in the long jump. Gordon replaces Edwin Hagans who resigned in June. "I want all of our current and future Blue Raiders to wear the Lindsey Wilson name with great pride," Gordon said.
