Comments about: A new item for this area: Gooseberries

Nick Roy writes:
I saw that Gooseberries had piqued your interest and thought I would pass along the following UK publication: Ag/CDBREC/introsheets/currants.pdf. Thanks, - Nick Roy, County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources
Thanks, Nick Roy: The article does mention some hurdles, and all prospective growers should understand the obstacles as well as the opportunities as foreseen by the UK Agriculture Department.

But we only thinking along the lines of building the Great American Gooseberry Pie Factory and a solid export business to South Bend and Somerset and Russell County, what with the seasonal difference vs St. Joseph County in the frigid tundra, and the hords of northerners at Lake Cumberland in Gooseberry Time with their monstrous appetites for Gooseberry confections. Something of modest ambitions, like that. Surely more people than Debbie and Danny would get rich out of the Gooseberry mania sweeping the countryside, and the busloads of Canadian tourists lining Downtown each summer, here specifically for the Gooseberries. - EW
