Alverta "Bert" McGaha age 96 years a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 3:25 AM at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2pmCT/3pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. David Coffey the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 1pmCT, Saturday, June 22, 2013.



Alverta "Bert" McGaha, Adair County, KY


She was born on November 17, 1916 in Hall, Morgan County, IN. She was the daughter of the Courtney & Jessie Johnson Dorsett. She died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 96 years, 7 months, and 1 day.

She was the widow of Calvin McGaha who preceded her in death November 23, 2002. She is survived by the following:
  • One son: William (Marcella) Merkley of Lake Montzema, AZ

  • Two sisters: Lynn Beth Ray and Peggy Ann Joyce both of Indiana

  • Five grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • Seven great great grandchildren

  • And several nieces, nephews and a other relatives
She was a member of the Christian Church in Mooresville, IN, and was a beautician.
