2-Year-old dies after being backed over by mini-van

Tragedy occurs in Southern Meade County

VINE GROVE, KY - On Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at approximately 8:21pmET, Tpr. Steve Oughton responded to 645 Stanley Allen Drive in the Vine Grove community of Meade County to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

Upon Tpr. Oughton's arrival he discovered that a 1998 Plymouth Voyager van was backing up to a residence to unload household items.




Unaware to the driver, 31-year-old Joseph Allison, a two year old child had climbed into the back hatch entrance of the van. As Allison continued to back up, the two year old, Brendyn Keisler, fell out of the back and was ran over by the Voyager. Brendyn sustained critical injuries to the head and neck and was flown to Kosair's in Louisville with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at 7:17pmET on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor. - MTPR Norman Chaffins
