En Plein Air Paint Out July 4th, 2013, Burkesville, KY

Artists and spectators invited to event in historic Cumberland Co., KY county seat

By Bill Guffey

The Kentucky Outdoor Painters Society will be holding its First Annual Plein Air Paint Out on July 4th, 2013 in Burkesville, KY. Registration for the event is 8am-9amCT, at the Bill Guffey Fine Art Studio & Gallery, 500 Public Square, Burkesville, KY.Contact Bill Guffey at 270-406-0189 or email bill@billguffey.com.

This free event is not a competition. There are no prizes. It is simply a gathering of artists painting outdoors and enjoying the company of like-minded individuals.

Artists are free to set up their easels around town on the 4th of July and paint en plein air, which simply means out of doors. Burkesville has many older buildings to paint or draw, along with a City Park, and the Cumberland River. There are designated private property locations that artists can visit to paint also. These locations are marked on the maps available at registration, and will have orange traffic cones at the physical location for easy recognition.

Visitors and artists are asked to conform to normal, courteous behavior during this event by not littering or impeding foot or vehicular traffic at any times. They are asked to respect the space of the curious bystanders and artists alike, and not to block sidewalks or paths.

There will be lots of traffic around town on this day, so please be careful and watch where you set up your easel. - Bill Guffey
