Samuel Preston Jackson, 87, of Louisville, KY, died Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2:44 amET, at the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, KY.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Donnie Walkup delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Lebanon National Cemetery. Visitation after 11amCT/12pmET, Saturday, June 1, 2013.



Samuel Preston Jackson, Adair County, KY (1925-2013)

He was born Friday, November 5, 1925, in Milltown, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late James and Myrtle Graves Jackson. He died Monday, June 3, 2013, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 28 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sons, Richard Lee Dudley, Jeffrey Lynn Jackson, Gregory Jackson, Preston Jackson and William Jackson.

He was a member of Old Shepherdsville Road Christian Church, a US Army Veteran of World War II, and was retired from Ford Motor Company.

Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Winnie Bradshaw Jackson of Louisville, KY

  • Three sons: Samuel Wayne Jackson, Napoleon Jackson, and, Emmett Jackson all of Louisville, KY

  • Three brothers: Edwin Jackson and Kenneth Jackson both of Columbia, KY; and James A. Jackson, Jr. of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters: Laura Frances Daniels of Louisville, KY; and Ella Mae Jackson of Columbia, KY

  • Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
