Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Harris Shirley, 94m of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Harris Shirley will be conducted at 1pmCT/2pmET, Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery in Metcalfe County, KY. Bro. Charlie Houk will be officiating. Visitation is requested 4pmCT-9pmCT/5pm-10pmET, Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Tuesday, May 28, 2013, until time of the funeral service.

Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Harris Shirley was the daughter of the late Ira Lee Harris and Sally Florence Compton Harris. She was born on April 14, 1919 in Metcalfe County, KY. She and departed this life on Saturday, May 25, 2013 l in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 94 years, 1 month, and 11 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, and was a former employee for Jane Todd Crawford Hospital working in dietary.

She united in marriage to Edwin Paul Shirley on October 14, 1939 who preceded her in death on May 9, 2004.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters and a son in law: Sharon Fay and Bobby Blakeman, and Shelia Phillips all of Greensburg, KY

  • A son and daughter-in-law: Bobbie and Maydell Shirley of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Faron Blakeman of Campbellsville, KY; Julia DeJarnette of Florida, Jill Saranga of Oklahoma, Susan Yarberry, Tracy Howard both of Tennessee, and Teresa Jo Shirley of Greensburg, KY

  • Twelve great grandchildren: Austin, Jessica, Brandi Blakeman, Aaron, Zachary, Caleb, Ashley DeJarnette, Elisha, Jordan, Arianna, Jonathan, Emeli Anne Saranga

  • Brother and sisters in law: Charles Shirley, Ida Scott of Edmonton, KY; and Frances Harris of Glasgow, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends. The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY in charge of arrangements.
