Allene Kerns Burton, 91, Adair Co., KY (1921-2013)

She was the matriarch of a large, respected Northeast Adair County, KY family, with many family ties in Adair and Russell Counties and elsewhere. She was the daughter of the late Hobert and Pearl Coffey Kerns. She leaves 54 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker.

Allene Kerns Burton, 91, Winfrey Hill Road, (Adair County), Russell Springs, KY, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 E Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY at 1pmCT/20mET, Saturday, May 25, 2013, with Bro. Calvin Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Kerns Cemetery, 2125 Allen Schoolhouse Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, 2013, after 5pmCT/6pmET.

She was born Wednesday, September 2, 1921, in Columbia, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Hobert Kerns and the late Pearl Coffey Kerns. She died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at her home in the Winfrey Hill Road neighborhood in Northeast Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 20 days.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three daughters: Jean, wife of Billy Johnson, Russell Springs, KY; Annette, wife of Ronnie Slaven, and Vermalene Moore, both of Columbia, KY

  • Three sons: Vanon Grider, Russell Springs, KY; Marvin, husband of Brenda Grider, Columbia, KY; and J.D., husband of Nancy Grider, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two brothers: Dallas Kerns, Bardstown, KY; and Joe Kerns, Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Dorothy Kerns, Columbia, KY; and Mable Barnes, Bardstown, KY

  • Seventeen grandchildren

  • Twenty-three great grandchildren

  • Eight great grandchildren
