Grace Beatrice Landis, Green Co., KY (1920-2013)

Mrs. Landis had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Fry Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Fry Community Homemakers. She was the matriarch of a highly regarded family. She was the daughter of the lagte Lewis Aquires and Tamer Finn Squires. She was the widow of Shively Landis. Their marriage had endured over 48 years. She leaves 22 direct living descendants.

Grace Beatrice Landis of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Golden Living Center, Green Hill, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Grace Beatrice Landis will be conducted 1pmCT/2pmET, Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial in the Fry Cemetery. Bro. Larry Wisdom and Glen Landis will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4pmCT-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7am/8amET, Tuesday until time of the funeral service.


Pallbearers: Rodney Landis Glen Landis Michael Landis Jeff Landis, Tony Corbin Clint Bale, and Bendall Bagby.

Honorary pallbearers: Missy Landis, Gwen Landis, Lindsay Landis, Katye Landis, Christlyn Landis, Isaac Landis. Bobby Landis, Machelle Corbin, Terra Bale, Becky Burner, Chastidy Toms.

Grace Beatrice Landis of Greensburg, KY, was the daughter of the late Lewis Squires and Tamer Finn Squires. She was born on Saturday, January 3, 1920 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 93 years, 4 months and 15 days of age.

Mrs. Landis had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Fry Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Fry Community Homemakers.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons and daughters in law: Donnie "Smokey" and Tammy Landis, and Bobby and Wilma Landis all of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • Nine great grandchildren

  • Five step great grandchildren

  • Two sisters and a brother in law: Lucille Bagby and Eloise and Billy Gumm all of Greensburg, KY

  • Her brother and sister in law: Elwood and Jewells Squires of Campbellsville, KY

  • And three sisters in law: Mitchelyn Squires of Campbellsville, KY; and Ruth Sullivan and Edith Squires both of Greensburg
Mrs. Landis was also preceded in death by her sister: Marie Squires and four brothers: Nelson Squires, Raymond Squires, Russell Squires and Floyd Squires.

Memorials are suggested to the Fry Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

The Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, in charge of arrangements.
