A cosmopolitan gathering: Lunch with Casey Kindergartners There was a quite a diverse group celebrating the end of kindergarten at Col. William Casey today, Thursday, May 16, 2013, hosted by class member Andrea Aquino at her parents', Antonio and Teresa Aquino's restaurant, Pablo's Mexican Grill. In all six countries, three continents, North America, Asia, and Africa were represented, with kids with representing, in a way, six countries: China, Korea, Kenya, Mexico, South Africa, and the United States. The Mexican connection, for Andrea, is through her father, Antonio, but she is a native of the United States; she was born in Campbellsville at Taylor Regional Hospital. The others with close ties to other countries are Becky Chen, China; Aaron Smith, Korea; Panash Gecheo, Kenya; Tannah Chalmers, South Africa, and Michelle Medrano-Delgado, Mexico. When the kids arrived they were barely seated at a long row of tables before they were served lunches to order. Those in attendance were Lilly Adama, Andrea Aquino, Gage Bernard, Jake Bryant, Tannah Chalmers, Becky Chen, Payton Coomer, Hayden Dorman, gabriel Feldkamp, Eldon Furkins, Panasha Gecheo; Samuel George, Gracie Gist, Zane Gist, Braxton Hadley. Ja'Vyan Hawkins, Ricki Helm, Halie Jeffries, Michelle Medrano-Delgado, Savannah Roberts, Savannah Sears, Aaron Smith, Kylie Spires, and Mercedes VanArsdale. Kayla Abbott is a member of the class, but was not present. Ms. Burton was assisted with the oversight of the animated but well behaved crowd by assistants Missy Bryant and Daniel Marcum. When the children left each was given a gift bag, with instructions not to open it until they got to school. They didn't. "They're the best kids," bus driver Kay Turner said. "They really well behaved." This story was posted on 2013-05-16 13:19:38
