Mr. Maxie G. Houk, 72, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home.

The funeral services for Mr. Maxie G. Houk will be conducted at 10amCT/11amET, Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Pierce Community Cemetery. Bro. Mark Lile, and Jeff Houk will be officiating. Visitation is requested 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT/8amET, Monday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Jeff Houk Brian Penick Jeffrey Houk, Kyle Houk, Cody Houk, and Dylan Penick.

Honorary pallbearers: Krystal Coppage Lucas Davenport Doug Davenport DeeDee Wiegal Mike Wiegal Jade Curry, and H & W Church Sunday School Class.


Mr. Maxie G. Houk, Green County, KY, (1939-2013)


Mr. Maxie G. Houk was the son of the late Leonard Houk and Veora Pierce Houk. He was born on Saturday, August 26, 1939 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home. He was 73 years, 8 months, and 13 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Community Baptist Church, and was a lifelong farmer.

He united in marriage to Marie Neagle Davenport on October 19, 2002 who survives. Other survivors include:
  • A son and daughter in law: Jeff and Juanita Houk of Greensburg, KY

  • A daughter and son in law: Marcia and Brian Penick of Greensburg, KY

  • Step children: DeeDee and Mike Wiegal of Campbellsville, KY; and Doug Davenport of Greensburg, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Jeffrey Houk and his wife Sara, Kyle Houk, Cody Houk, and Dylan Penick all of Greensburg, KY

  • Four step grandchildren: Krystal Coppage of Campbellsville, KY; Jade Curry and her husband Adam of Franklin, KY; Jonathan Davenport, and Lucas Davenport both of Greensburg, KY

  • A sister: Barbara Jean Dennison of Greensburg, KY

  • Five step great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Memorials are suggested to the Pierce Community Cemetery, or the Community Baptist Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
