JOLIET, IL - Sometimes the difference between placing in an event and winning the event is simply having faith. That's what Campbellsville University senior Tiosha Beasley learned Saturday as she dug deep and leaped farther than she had in over a year to repeat as long jump national champion at the National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The win makes Beasley the first three-time national champion in Campbellsville University athletics history and the first woman to win back-to-back titles in school history. Detrick Briggs is the only other CU student-athlete to claim back-to-back national titles, winning the 2009 and 2010 NCCAA Outdoor Men's Track & Field triple jump titles.

CU women's track and field now has five NCCAA national championships, the most of any sport at the university. Campbellsville now has 17 national titles in its athletics history, 11 of which have come in the NCCAA since 2009 (See list below).

Entering the meet with a season-best mark of 5.67 meters, Beasley jumped 5.62 meters in the Saturday morning preliminary, a distance that would have been good for seventh-place in the finals. However, Beasley eclipsed her season-high to win the title with her second-best leap of her collegiate career at 5.87 meters (19 feet, 3.25 inches).

"It was something that I didn't think could happen, to be honest, because in all the big meets, I seem to not show up (this year)," Beasley said. "Today the difference was a prayer for strength to prove that I work hard ... I noticed today that if you just have a little faith, then it will take you a long way."

Beasley's national title comes against tougher competition than her 2012 title leap of 5.63 meters. Unlike last season, the NCCAA also featured former NAIA powerhouses Azusa Pacific University and Shorter University, as well as NCAA Division II member McMurry College. Beasley bested the 2012 NAIA outdoor long jump runner-up Megan VanWinkle as well as her teammate Keisha Chiles, the 2013 NAIA indoor triple jump runner-up.

"I love the fact that I win back-to-back titles, because last year most of these girls were not competing in the NCCAA," Beasley said. "It just shows that I have so much more in me."

Chiles placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.67 meters.

Beasley and Chiles also ran the first two legs of the 4x100-meter relay, respectively, with Kelsey Feltner and Lauren Little. The relay finished just shy of All-America status, placing fourth in the race in 48.33. Chiles also finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (12.48).

Alexis Crawford also helped earn team points, placing seventh in the shot put with a mark of 12.12 meters.

CU also competed in the 3,000-metere steeplechase.

Campbellsville's women finished seventh as a team in the meet among 24 teams, while the men were 16th of 23 teams. Azusa Pacific claimed both team national titles.

On the men's side, Jourdon Redmond helped CU earn points in two events, placing fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.49 and as a member of the fifth-place 4x100-meter relay team, which featured Eurodger Barglbor, Brandon Grreen, Redmond and Mingie.

CU also had an athlete compete in the long jump, 1,500-meter run and 5,000-meter run on the day.
