Columbia Post Office Help Stamp Out Hunger aids Food Pantry Last year, Columbia and Adair County, KY, collected approximately 4,000 lbs. of food for the Adair County Food Pantry by the local postal service. Patrons are asked to be help by taking canned goods to the Post Office and/or leaving bags of canned goods next to mailbox on Saturday, May 11, 2013 for carriers to pick up By Randal Murrell, Postmaster, Columbia, KY On Saturday, May 11, U. S. Postal Carriers in Columbia and Adair County will again help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County. Now in its 21th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation's largest single-day food drive. Last year carriers in Columbia and Adair County collected approximately 4000 lbs of food which was delivered to the Adair County Food Pantry located at 203 S Monroe Street, Columbia, KY. To help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County this year, simply leave a sturdy bag containing nonperishable foods, like canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on Saturday May 11, 2013. Food items should be in non-breakable containers such as boxes and cans. Mail carriers will pick up the donations and deliver them to the local food pantry. Contributors may also drop off food items at the Columbia Post Office located at 800 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY, any time this week.
