One fatality, one airlifted following head-on crash

In Metcalfe County, KY, at junction of KY 43/US 68

EDMONTON, KY - The Kentucky State police are investigating a collision that occurred today, Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 2:45pmCT, 1 mile east of Edmonton, KY, at the junction of US 68 and KY 1243.

Nineteen old Joseph Smith of Edmonton, was traveling east in a 2000 Buick when he failed to negotiate a curve and entered the path and collided with a westbound 2004 Chevy.



The Chevy was operated by 55-year-old Debbie Froedge of Edmonton. Smith was not belted and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Froedge was belted and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Metcalfe County Coroner. Trooper Nick Davis is investigating and was assisted at the scene by the Metcalfe County Sheriffs Office, Highway Department, Air Methods Medical, Barren-Metcalfe EMS and the Edmonton Fire Department.
