Lindsey Wilson baseball in MSC title Game after 9-1 win over CU Lindsey Wilson vs (winner of consolation bracket: Campbellsville, Georgetown, or Rio Grande)) plays at 1pmCT/2pmET on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Hunter Wright Stadium, 801 Granby Road, Kingsport, TN against the team that emerges from the consolation bracket. News from Lindsey Wilson College KINGSPORT, TN - Third-seeded Lindsey Wilson punched its ticket into the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship game with a 9-1 win over No. 4-seed Campbellsville (KY) today at Hunter Wright Stadium. Lindsey Wilson, the lone unbeaten team remaining in the double elimination tournament, plays at 1pmCT on Sunday against the team that emerges from the consolation bracket. The team which makes it out of the consolation bracket will have to beat the Blue Raiders twice to win the tournament title. England Smith (6-5) limited the Tigers to just one run and eight hits in a complete-game effort. Smith was spectacular when the Blue Raiders (41-16) needed him the most. The junior southpaw forced the Tigers to strand 10 base runners in the game, including four innings where Campbellsville left two runners on to end the inning. The win is the second in as many outing for Smith against the Tigers (30-18) this season. He also beat Campbellsville 6-1 on April 21. While Smith was dealing on the bump, the Blue Raider hitters produced 14 hits in the game. Five Blue Raiders had multiple hits led by Russ Morse's three hits. It was a pair of big innings that allowed the Blue Raiders to beat the Tigers for the third time in four tries this season. Lindsey Wilson posted five runs in the third inning as the Blue Raiders sent 10 batters to the plate resulting in six hits. In the seventh inning, Lindsey Wilson once again batted around and scored four times on three hits highlighted by Michael Rosario's two-run, two-out single to push the lead to 9-1. Campbellsville took an early lead in the second inning as Brandon Johnson led off with a single and scored on Aaron Schwoebel's triple. Schwoebel led the Tigers with three of the team's eight hits. Campbellsville starter Sean Bouthilette suffered the loss allowing five runs on five hits in 2-2/3 innings. Lindsey Wilson now waits to see if it will face second-seeded Georgetown (KY), fifth-seeded Rio Grande (Ohio) or a rematch with Campbellsville in the finals. All three teams remain alive in the consolation bracket. This story was posted on 2013-04-27 20:36:53
