By Victoria Pike

I was awakened by a call this morning of this nature. They told me I had filled out a card requesting information on a broadleaf herbicide. I insisted I hadn't and she went on to tell about it.

Sounded great, killed everything but the good stuff.

Being a weed fighting farmer, I didn't think such existed.

The price was about $150 a gal. but would let me have it for $100. Being a bit suspicious, I asked for a name, number, website and company name and told her I would read on it. After putting the name of the product in my search bar, I found others had received such calls and one state's department of agriculture had posted a warning that it wasn't registered for sale in their state. Also it was not for use in pasture fields as she had told me.

Beware if you get such a call.

I contacted the KY Dept. of Agriculture at 866-289-0001 and asked to speak to someone in the outdoor pesticide/herbicide division. They will take your complaint.

Now I am off to fight weeds the old fashion way with my trusty sprayer and chemical I know works. Happy farming all. --Victoria Pike
