What is gained, what is lost: If Cobb-Vantress comes

Now's the time for discussion. The silence is deafening

It's a possibility which could fundamentally change Adair County, for better or for worse. It is question few have commented about, and we find that fundamentally a huge concern.

What the plant will cost, how it dramatically changes he basic character of the Green River Commerce Park, it's environmental effects, the price of the land, it's effects on air and water quality, its effects on agri-tourism, its effect on existing and emerging farm enterprises before it comes to Adair County.

Most important is the question of how Adair Countians with power are treating our own. In this case, the existing, hometown, local business people already in the Green River Commerce Park is of paramount importance. In our opinion, Ken and Robyn Wilkerson and Dr. Lynda Wilkerson, who have invested $1 million of their own money in their plant, Assisted Transportation Systems, Inc., deserve better than the fluff off "You'll be okay. Don't worry," treatment they are getting.

For the record, they feel betrayed and from what I can learn - I would, too, were I in their shoes. . Abiding by community accepted standards of civil discourse, we invite your comments. - ED WAGGENER
