COLUMBIA, KY - In the first year moving to opening-round sites for the NAIA Softball National Championship, Lindsey Wilson College has been selected by national office officials as one of the 10 institutions to debut the new format.



The Blue Raiders locked up a bid to the national championship with at least a share of the Mid-South Conference Regular-Season Championship on Monday and will be joined by three other programs in the Lindsey Wilson Bracket in Columbia, KY.

Opening-round play is scheduled for May 13-15 with 10 four-team double-elimination tournaments at campus sites. A list of the other nine sites is available here. The 40 national qualifying teams and opening-round pairings will be released on May 7, Details such as games times, tickets and live media will be announced at a later date.

Lindsey Wilson is making its fourth straight trip to the national championship, but is yet to advance to the 10-team bracket round at the final site.

This year, the final site has moved to Columbus, GA, at the South Commons Softball Complex on May 24-30, 2013.

Of the 40 teams selected for the national championship, 31 are automatic berths from conference and unaffiliated groups and nine are at-large selections based off the final poll on May 7, 2013. - Dan White
