Louisville man arrested after altercation, repeated tasing He was passenger in vehicle; driver arrested and charged with DUI at a traffice safety checkpoint, according to the police report, passenger was not initially arrested and was allowed to call someone for a to come and give him a ride, then kept walking into traffic, disregarding Troopers warnings to remain in one location for the saftety of other motorists By MTPR Norman Chaffins, Public Affairs Officer Kentucky State Police Post 4, Elizabethtown, KY ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - On Saturday, April 20, 2013 at approximately 2:30amET Post 4 Troopers arrested 35-year-old Kenneth R. Anthony of Louisville, KY. Anthony was the passenger of a vehicle where the driver was arrested and charged with DUI at a traffic safety checkpoint. Mr. Anthony was not initially arrested and was allowed to call someone to come and give him a ride. However, Anthony kept walking into traffic, disregarding Troopers warnings to remain in one location for his safety and the safety of other motorists. When confronted by Troopers, Anthony became combative and refused to comply with their commands. After several ignored repetitive commands by Trooper Mike Garyantes, Anthony was told he was under arrest and Tpr. Garyantes attempted to place the handcuffs on him. Anthony resisted and had to be taken to the ground. Numerous verbal commands were given to Anthony as he still refused to comply. Anthony had to be administered several rounds from the Taser just to get the handcuffs on him. He continued to kick Troopers as they carried him to the cruiser. He was administered several more rounds from the Taser as he continued to fight between cycles. Once in the cruiser he kicked the driver's side rear window doing damage to the window frame and cutting his foot. Anthony was tased again in an attempt to get him to comply. He was also pepper sprayed which was also ineffective. Troopers had to secure his feet using the seatbelts in the vehicle. Anthony then began to ram his head into the interior of the cruiser. In an attempt to get him to relax and stop him from harming himself he was administered more rounds from the Taser. He was finally subdued and taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for evaluation where he was treated, released and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. He was charged with Alcohol Intoxication, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 2nd, Criminal Mischief 2nd, Menacing, and Assault 3rd on a Police Officer.MTPR Norman Chaffins This story was posted on 2013-04-23 02:50:01
