Coax Me Chad dies at age 32

He is buried with one dozen roses near his favorite tree in Adair County, KY. He was no Secretariat, but he had quite a career, including that famous second place finish in the 1984 Kentucky Derby, his friend Wally Burress remembers.

Mr. Waggener,I just wanted to let everyone know we buried Coax Me Chad Sunday night. We had some pretty exciting times together during his racing career in the early 80's.

I was lucky to be able to bring him back to Kentucky in 2007 after he was retired from stud.I enjoyed having him around here for over five years.

He was no Secretariat, but he earned his keep.He had purse winnings of $324,744 and his foals have earned nearly $4million.

Of course his second place finish in the '84 Kentucky Derby was what he was most known for.

He's already dearly missed here at the farm!

He was 32 years old, very unsual for a Thoroughbred stallion. He's buried near his favorite tree with one dozen roses. --Wally Burress
