Olene Chumbley, Russell County, KY (1924-2013)

She was a cook at Salem Elementary School and a member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church. She was the widow of Arlis Chumbley. She leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Olene Chumbley, 75, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral service for Olene Chumbley will be 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Rev. Troy Grider and Rev. Casey Davis officiating. Friends may call after 4pmCT/5pmET, Tuesday, April 2, 2913m at the funeral home. Burial in the Square Oak Cemetery, Russell County, KY.



Active Pallbearers: Jeff Aaron, Barney Flanagan, Steve McBeath, Brian McQueary, and Glen Tucker.

She was born Saturday, July 24, 1937 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ivy and Ada Pearl Tucker Stephens. She died Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, af the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 6 days.

She was a cook at Salem Elementary School and a member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlis Chumbley and a great grandchild, Brandon Johnson.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters, Arlene (Eddie) Robertson, Russell Springs, KY; and Kathy Mondie, Louisville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Mark (Angela) Robertson, Penny (Turtle) Stanelle, both of Russell Springs, KY; Jennifer Meece, Louisville, KY; and Jamie Johnson, Russell Springs, KY

  • Six great grandchildren: Blake and Hannah Robertson, Logan and Dylan Stanellem Kala Carey, and Steven Carter
