Johnie D. Jessie, 71, Glasgow, KY (d. Mar. 20, 2013)

He was the patriarch of a large, respected South Central Kentucky family. He leaves 24 direct living descendants. He was a retired farmer and husband of Edna Marie Jessie who preceded him in just 76 days ago. Interment will be in Adair County, KY

Johnie D. Jessie age 71 of Glasgow died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT/2pmET, Friday, March 22, 2013, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Bragg Cemetery, 100 Bragg Cemetery Road, Adair County, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Thursday and after 9amCT, Friday at the funeral home.

He was the son of the late Hairce and Harriet Bragg Jessie. He was a retired farmer and husband of Edna Marie Jessie who preceded him in death January 1, 2013.

He is survived by the following:
  • Seven children: Ricky and wife Felicia Jessie of Glasgow, KY; Danny and wife Glenda Jessie of Edmonton, KY; Gary Jessie of Glasgow, KY; Shelia and husband Willie Jones of Glasgow, KY; Lisa and husband Lynn Rich of Glasgow, KY; Terri and husband Tommy Neal of Glasgow, KY; and Juanita and husband Allen Hagan of Glasgow, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren; Karly Jessie, Eric and wife Beth Jessie; April and husband Chris Shaw; Brittany Jessie, Tiffany and husband Will Gray; Nikki Jones, Brandon Rich, Tonya and husband Rob Slack; Tosha Neal, Cameron Neal, Ashley Hagan and Chase Jessie

  • Five great grandchildren: Dalton Jessie, Robbie Slack, Anna Slack, Lane Jennings and Tucker Jennings
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters; Henry "Buster" Jessie, Harlan Jessie, Flossie Clemmons, Dorthy Lyons, Lucille Jessie and Marie Jessie. He was also preceded in death by a special aunt Lou Ella Thompson.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
