While attending the conference Mayor Young and Mrs. Haskins visited the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. Later in the week they met with Senator Mitch McConnell and other congressmen on Capitol Hill to discuss the needs of Campbellsville and Central Kentucky. The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) provides advocacy, education, research, and training for the nation's regional development organizations. The association and its members promote regional strategies, partnerships, and solutions to strengthen the economic competitiveness and quality of life across America's local communities. Mayor Young and Mrs. Haskins serve on the Lake Cumberland Area Development District (LCADD) Executive Committee. The Lake Cumberland Area Development District serves the counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne. The LCADD is a quasi-governmental agency working with city governments, county governments, and special districts within the ten-county Lake Cumberland Region to improve the quality of life for the region's citizens. The mission of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District is to provide a regional forum to local governments and citizens in order to identify issues and opportunities and to then provide leadership in planning and implementing projects and programs to improve the quality of life within the district.
