A recent (February 4, 2013) Wall Street Journal article headlined "Crime that no longer pays" "Crime that no longer pays" noted that "Preliminary 2012 figures released last week show the lowest tally in decades: 3,870 bank robberies, down from more than 5,000 a year earlier." However, a February 24, 2013 article in the Bowling Green, KY, Daily News reported in that city there were a record five bank robberies in 2012 and that there already have been three there this year. (As of March 1, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. Central Coburg Time, the Daily News article may be viewed by going to Daily News.com and entering the term "bank robberies" sans quotation marks in the search function. The article is headlined "Economy, other issues spark heists.") Entering the same term in the "Courier-Journal," search function brings up a lengthy list of articles from the past few years.
