Campbellsville Police investigate robbery of shopper

Investigation ongoing. Female shopper receives minor injuries in altercation as she tried to fend off purse snatcher, but did not require medical treatment. Police are looking for a perpetrator described as a black male; approximately six feet - three inches (6' 3") tall; medium build; last seen wearing a hooded sweat shirt/jacket; and possibly a red baseball cap

The Campbellsville Police Department is looking for a the perpetrator in the robbery of a female shopper in Central Plaza at the Family Dollar Store on Saturday evening, February 23, 2013, at around 7:40pmET.




The victim was exiting Family Dollar store after making purchases. As she walked from the store exit toward her automobile, she reports a black male standing near the store exit approached her and grabbed her purse.

The victim attempted to retain her purse, however, the perpetrator persisted by aggressively pulling the purse from the victim causing her to strike the wall of the building and falling to the sidewalk. The perpetrator then ran toward North Jackson Street. The victim received minor injuries in the altercation, but did not require medical treatment.

Officers from the Campbellsville Police Department searched the area with the assistance of the Taylor County Sheriff's Department and their Canine (K-9). However, the perpetrator was not located.

The perpetrator is described as a black male; approximately six feet - three inches (6' 3") tall; medium build; last seen wearing a hooded sweat shirt/jacket; and possibly a red baseball cap.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Campbellsville Police Department at 465-4122. The incident remains under investigation by Officer Ryan Jewell.

The CPD was assisted in the investigation by the Taylor County Sheriff's Department.
