Big Sports weekend having big impact on Columbia

A beautiful Sunny day in Columbia, KY for LWC U.S.A. Cycling Event final event today at 9amCT on the campus of Adair County High School

By Ed Waggener

If you are wondering why so many people were in town yesterday and why so many restaurants were crowded on Saturday, the huge number of cyclists were a big part of the reason - along with all the other Sports Events, including a packed John Burr Memorial Gymnasium for the overtime 20th District championship game own by Taylor County High School.

Today, the last of 3 Cycling Road Races the Criterium races starting at Adair County High School and utilizing the the Adair County School District campus at 9amCT with the final race at 1pmCT, Sunday, February 24, 2013 Criterium races start behind Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, in Columbia.

Two of the three events were completed Saturday: the Team Time Trials and the big Purdy Church Road Race on Saturday.

A Subtle Nutritional Sidenote - A reader noticed one of the big busses carrying athletes parked equal distance from a number of Columbia Restaurants and wondered which one most of the teams would choose. They all went to the one with the perceived "healthy" menu. - EW
