He was a native Casey Countian. He was the son of the late Joel and Pin Pemberton Cox and the husband of Judy Cochran Cox, who survives. He leaves 21 direct living descendants. He was a welder and a mechanic

Garnett E. Cox passed away Saturday February 16, 2013 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky. He was 68.

Funeral services are 12pm noon CT/1pmET Wednesday February 20, 2013 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Gary Allen officiating. Burial is at Dogwood Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, at the funeral home.



Garnett E. Cox, Casey County, KY (1945-2013)


Born Wednesday, January 17, 1945 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Joel and Pina Pemberton Cox. He died Saturday, February 16, 2013, in Danville, Boyle County, KY at the age of 68 years and 30 days.

He was a welder and mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Cochran Cox of Hustonville, KY and the following:
  • Two sons: Gary Cox of Hustonville, KY; and William Turpin of Danville, KY

  • Two daughters: Nita Gail Chadwell and Kay Perez both of Campbellsville, KY

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Nine great grandchildren

  • Five brothers: George , Ronald, Joe, and Fairley Cox all of Liberty, KY; and Lonnie Cox of Massachusetts

  • And five sisters: Rose Gillock and Betty K. McQueary of Liberty, KY; Gail Reed of Hustonville, KY; Geneva King of Indiana, KY and Icie Atwood of Stanford, KY
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Cox ; and several brothers and sisters. Send a condolence to the family of Garnett E. Cox
