Boys HS Basketball: Adair County 53. Russell County 76 Russell County Lakers take 76-53 victory over Adair County at John Burr Memorial Gym, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. Indian Scoring: Chance Melton 18, Ty Bennett 11, Jayden Willis 10, Kel Stotts 6, Matt Fudge 6, and Marshall Shelley 2 points. Next: ACHS boys JV/Varsity host Allen County, at ACHS Sports News from Adair County High School The Russell County Lakers improved to 19-5 on the season with a 76-53 win over the Adair County Indians. The loss dropped the Indians to 15-11 on the year. The Lakers led 18-17 after one period of play but a 16-8 second period rally led to a 34-25 halftime lead for the Lakers. Adair stayed within striking distance in the third period but still trailed 52-39 going into the fourth period. The Lakers went on a 24-14 run to close out the game and pull away to a 76-53 victory. The Indians scoring was as follows: Chance Melton 18, Ty Bennett 11, Jayden Willis 10, Kel Stotts 6, Matt Fudge 6, and Marshall Shelley 2 points. Melton pulled down 7 rebounds and Willis came away with 6 boards while Fudge and Willis handed out 3 assists. The Lakers were led by Nick Coffey who scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures were all state candidate Tyler Robertson with 19 points, Blake Ellis with 15 points, and Bart Mann with 13 points. The Indians connected on 15-43 from the field, 3-15 from the three, and 20-24 from the line. Russell County connected on a sizzling 29-53 from the field, 2-10 from the three, and 16-23 from the line. The Lakers out rebounded the Indians 35-22.
