CAUD receives $925,000 in Federal funding

USDA loan portion, $694,000 will be repaid over 40 years at 1.875 percent. The funds will be used to complete repairs on Columbia/Adair County Utilities District's Wastewater Plant necessitated by the May 2010 flood event.

LEXINGTON, KY, February 6, 2013 - USDA Rural Development State Director Tom Fern has announced $925,000 ($694,000 loan/ $231,000 grant) in federal funding to construct and renovate several components of Adair County Water District's water and sewage treatment infrastructure.

The Rural Development funds will be used to construct a wastewater treatment plant sludge conditioning system (to replace the existing system damaged during major flooding in 2010), renovate three existing water storage tanks (to restore structural and safety components) construct one new 250 GPM sewage lift station, and renovate four sewage lift stations (damaged during the 2010 flood event) throughout the City of Columbia.




These improvements will allow the Water District to provide a safe and dependable water supply for approximately 4,014 existing customers in rural Adair County, The repayment terms for the loan portion of the funding are forty years at an interest rate of 1.875 percent.
