Dorothy Baker Hinton, 83, Columbia, KY (1929-2013)

She was a native of Muhlenberg County, KY. She was the widow of Thurman Walker Hinton and the matriarch of large, highly regarded family. She leaves 14 direct living descendants. She was a member of Plum Point Baptist Church and a house wife.

Dorothy Baker Hinton age 83 years a resident of Golden Living Center Green Hill, Greensburg, KY formerly of Columbia, KY passed away Sunday February 3, 2013 at 6:20amCT, in Greensburg, KY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 1pmCT/2pmET at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Jared West officiating. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 10amCT/11amET.

She was born on March 17, 1929 in Central City, Muhlenberg County, KY She was the daughter of the late Thomas Horton and Josie Knight Baker. She died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 6:20amCT, in Greensburg, Green County, KY, at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 17 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thurman Walker Hinton on February 18, 2008, and two children Barbara Hinton Allen and James Allen Hinton.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Ida (Gerald) Doss of Columbia, KY; and Belinda Nickel of Indianapolis, IN

  • Six grandchildren

  • Six great grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
She was a member of Plum Point Baptist Church and a house wife.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, in charge of funeral arrangements.
