Mr. Clyde Robert Poynter, 94, of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, Greensburg, KY

The funeral services for Mr. Clyde Robert Poynter will be conducted at 11amCT/12pm noon CT, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Fry Cemetery. Bro. Larry Wisdom, Bro. Leslie Jewell, and Bro. Ivan Jones will be officiating. Visitation is requested 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Friday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main Street, Greensburg, KY, and after 7amCT/8amET, Saturday until time of the funeral service.

Mr. Clyde Robert Poynter was the son of the late William Harrison Poynter and Hattie M. Boston Poynter. He was born on Wednesday, October 16, 1918 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. He was 94 years, three months, and 14 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Fry Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer, and a WWII Veteran having served in the United States Army.

Mr. Poynter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mozella M. Kelly Poynter, having united in marriage on June 2, 1951.

Other survivors include the following:
  • A brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Buddy and Gen Beard, and Rebecca Kelly all of Greensburg, KY

  • Nieces and nephews: Paul and John VanMeter of Greensburg, Dawn Dudgeon of Campellsville, KY; and Darian and Stephanie Beard of Gallatin, TN

  • Great nieces and great nephews: Isabelle Beard of Tennessee, Faith VanMeter of Greensburg, KY; Brooke Dudgeon of Campbellsville, KY; Thomas and Becca Rayburn of Columbia, KY; Patrick VanMeter of Greensburg, KY; and Blake Dudgeon of Campbellsville, KY,/li>
  • A great great niece and nephew: Kelsey and Mason Rayburn of Columbia, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mr. Poynter was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Porter and Mavis Kelly; and a brother-in-law: James Allen Kelly.

Memorials are suggested to the Fry Baptist Church Relay for Life Team, or the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home. Send a condolence to the family of Mr. Clyde Robert Poynter
